Section 2
You are already inside
You were edited too, before you could object.
Try to deny the question. Say genetic engineering is a separate question. Say editing a person before they can choose is a matter for bioethics committees, for regulators, or for what the technology can do. Not a question the axiom can reach.
Something has to do the saying. A person does it. And that person was edited too. By genes. By environment. By the conditions that shaped how they connect with the world, before their capacity to choose began. They could not object.
The person you are reading from is the result of a process you had no authority over. So the only question is this. Does deliberateness change what the test reads?
It does. But not in the direction the standard view expects.
The structure does not refuse pre-agency editing outright. It does not permit it outright either. It gives a test. The same test the chapters on the body have been building, applied to the future corridor the edit will produce.
Not towards refusal. Not towards permission. Towards the test.
Editing that widens the future person’s corridor is maintenance. Editing that narrows it to serve someone else’s preference is parasitic. It shrinks the paths of a person whose capacity to choose has not yet begun.
The line is not the technology. The line is what the edit does to the corridor the future person will stand in.
