Organ donation

The cleanest case first.

Begin where the test runs cleanest. A part of one body, given to another.

The chapter starts here because the verdict is one no major medical or social tradition disputes. And what augmentation needs in general is visible here at full clarity.

A donor body holds a part it no longer needs to keep going. Either the donor’s window has closed: the body has reached the end the last chapter, on the closing, is about. Or the donor’s build can keep running without the part.

A recipient body needs that part to keep its corridor open wide enough to live in.

The transfer takes the part from one build and joins it into another. The recipient’s corridor widens. The donor’s corridor has either already closed, or it is not affected at the grain the donation works at. The shared room across the two lives grows.

This is cooperative override, at the level of the build. The donor uses their capacity to choose, and a part goes to the recipient. The recipient’s body takes it in. The recipient’s modelling registers the part as its own.

The test reads whether the person goes on reading themselves across the change. Here they do.

A heart from another body, joined into the recipient, beats as the recipient’s own heart. A kidney. A liver lobe. Corneal tissue. Bone marrow. Each, taken in properly, becomes part of the recipient’s build. The loop by which the person reads themselves runs on, unbroken.

The condition is the donor’s

One condition carries the case: donor sovereignty. The donor’s authority over their own build. It is the authority over your own mind, from the chapter on addiction, carried to the level of the body’s parts.

The commitment to give is the donor’s own. The larger structure has one role: to support the conditions in which that commitment is made.

Coerced donation. Donation under inequality the larger structure never addressed at the dignity-floor, the minimum every person is held at, whatever else is being calculated. Donation taken from a body whose authority over itself has been compromised.

These fail the test at the donor’s side. It does not matter what institution the taking happened inside.

The test reads the donation at the donor’s side, not at the recipient’s side alone.

This is the axiom running. Symmetry, Break, Record and Constraint produce the body’s build. Under some conditions, its parts can be separated and joined into another build. The test reads whether the separating and the joining keep both builds whole, or break them.

Where both builds stay whole and the donor’s sovereignty is intact, donation is cooperative override at full strength.

This is the paradigm. The harder cases inherit from it.
